Pacifisme -- Dans la littérature
Classification Dewey : 373
Résumé / Abstract : This study aims to compare two works of the german-speaking literature in the context of the interwar period in the defeated Germany. The novel "Der Weg zurück" (1931) by Erich Maria Remarque and the short story "Karl und Anna" (1926) of Leonhard Frank stand at the center of this study. An analysis of specific excerpts will be replaced in the particular historical background of the Weimar republic in order to understand the treatment of the war experience in the two chosen narratives and the immediate post-war period by the end of world war I. The different ways to inspire generations to come concerning the pacifistic message are going to be studied. In fact, the anti-war rhetoric of artists such as Remarque and Frank include a powerful ability to denounce the atrocities during a war period and the challenging times that follow four years of total war.
