Résumé / Abstract : Pour lancer cette revue, nous partirons du principe qu'il n'est pas du tout prouvé que l'art est indéfinissable et qu'il incombe donc tout à fait naturellement à la recherche de voir jusqu'où et comment on pourrait le définir. D'où le mot d' « artologie » que nous mettons dans le titre. Il adresse un appel à tous ceux qui, ne pouvant s'empêcher de se servir du mot art aussi bien pour une réalisation d'Oscar Niemeyer, que pour un masque africain, que pour un Nô japonais, que pour La Victoire de Samothrace ou pour une fugue de Jean-Sébastien Bach, se posent malgré tout la question de savoir si l'art n'a pas quand même un régime spécifique qui le distingue de toutes les autres occupations et préoccupations humaines. Résumé / Abstract : In order to launch this magazine we make it a matter of principle that: nobody has yet proven that Art would be impossible to define; therefore it is the task of research workers to see how and how far they can define it. Hence the word "artologie" in the title. It is an appeal to everyone who, while using the word "art" for a work by Oscar Niemeyer as well as for an African mask or a Japanese Noh play or the Winged Victory of Samothrace or a fugue by Johann Sebastian Bach, still wonders whether art follows or not some specific rule that differentiates it from all the other human occupations and preoccupations.
