Résumé / Abstract : Among the myriad of musical activities of François-Joseph Fétis (1784-1871), this thesis focused on the workshop of the historian in the perspective of a material history of intellectual practices. The study is built around the Fétis' library (vast collection of books and scores supplemented by a firm of instruments) whose ways of constitution are reconstituted. Another aspect of the survey is devoted to the technical work of the scholar and the concrète actions they generate; are covered: art of memory, disposition of the cabinet, using of bibliographie tools, information collection, art lecturer. Finally, the analysis of historié concerts imagined by Fétis in the 1830s afford to measure the impact of practices and knowledge of scholars on the world of amateurs and professionals in the second half of the XIXth century, at a time when hermeneutic is to be essential for listening and interpreting works.
