Résumé / Abstract : Main description: The Satyricon of Petronius is a celebrated Latin novel and one of the most influential texts in Western literature. This critical edition and commentary of a section of the novel - the sea voyage episode - makes an important contribution towards a re-examination of the Satyricon as a whole, providing a useful tool for anyone interested in ancient narrative. The work, which offers new perspectives and interpretations, also includes a general introduction, a study of the famous tale of the widow of Ephesus, and a new outline of the textual tradition. It is equipped with extensive indices.
