Résumé / Abstract : Consacrée à la Confédération paysanne, cette recherche se donne pour objet le travail social qu'effectuent ses militants pour donner forme simultanément à leur existence propre et au collectif qu'ils investissent à cette fin, ce que l'expression à multiples sens de "juste distance" tend à désigner. Fondée sur les archives de l'organisation, des entretiens biographiques approfondis et répétés, un suivi ethnographique de plusieurs années sur deux sites choisis pour le système des différences qu'ils permettent d'appréhender (l'Orne et l'Aveyron), elle vise à inscrire cette histoire dans une histoire occultée, celle de Mai juin 1968, et dans l'actuelle constellation des mouvements de contestation (l'altermondialisation). Sociologie des engagements à la fois professionnels, syndicaux et "idéologiques" attentive au sens que les acteurs donnent à leur(s) lutte(s), elle cherche enfin à rendre compte de l'inscription de ces histoires individuelles et collectives dans le monde agricole français.
Résumé / Abstract : Devoted to the French Confederation paysanne, this research study focuses on the social work done by its militants to give shape simultaneously to their own existence and to the group they commit themselves on that purpose, which can described by the multiple meanings expression of "right distance". Based on the organisation archives, detailed and repeated biographical interviews and a several-year ethnographic follow-up of two sites chosen for the system of differences which they enable to grasp (the French departments l'Orne and l'Aveyron), it aims at inserting this history in the obscured history of the May1968 events and in the current constellation of alter-globalization movements. A sociology of professional, trade-union and "ideological" commitments, careful of the meaning individuals give to their fight(s), it finally tries to describe the insertion of these personal and collective histories into the French agricultural world.
