Résumé / Abstract : From China to America by way of Palestine, Africa and the European countries, Études Rurales explores the many aspects of "rurality" across territories, activities, lifestyles, political organizations, representations, beliefs, heritage and prospects for the future. Thanks to the contributions of authors from various backgrounds, the review speaks to an international audience across all disciplines (humanities, social and natural), applying itself to scientific inquiry as well as historical, philosophical and anthropological theory. In our ecumene, the urban and rural areas intersect. People are discovering the complex connections they have created with their surroundings, and the Earth becomes everyone's concern. In order to address the need to understand all those connections, differing perspectives are assembled in each issue. Without succumbing to a nostalgic return to the campaigns of yesteryear, Études Rurales contributes to the collective invention of a new representation of rurality
