Résumé / Abstract : "La filiation est un concept poétique majeur de l'oeuvre théâtrale de Samuel Beckett. Ce travail tente d'illustrer comment le dramaturge irlandais fait intervenir et articule les différentes composantes du concept. UNe approche fondée sur des travaux cliniques en psychopathologie met en lumière la prégnance des évènements dits "symbolicides", inassimilables pour les sujets et leur famille. Leur nature violente et mortifère, qu'il s'agisse de morts, accidents graves ou suicides, rend caduques les notions d'héritage et de patrimoine. Les secrets de famille, les situations d'adoption et d'enfants trouvés, ainsi que les origines inconnues font apparaître les effets du narcissisme négatif qui confère à la transmission entre les générations un caractère pathologique et au destin familial une connotation tragique. . . "
Résumé / Abstract : Filiation is a major concept in the poetics of S. Beckett's theatre. This thesis is an attempt to demonstrate how the different ramifications (legal, biological, imaginary) of this issue are mobilised in his writing. Research in clinical psychopathology provides us with a framework for an enhanced understanding of events which can be accounted for in terms of "symbolicide", the violent and morbid nature of which, be it death, serious accident or suicide, render notions of inheritance and heritage insignificant. Family secrets, adoption, foundlings, and unknow origins bring to the fore the effects of negative narcissism which endows continuity between generations with a pathological character and confers a tragic connotation upon family destinies...
