Résumé / Abstract : La banque des reglements internationaux vient de publier son cinquante sixieme rapport annuel, c'est-dire qu'elle est la plus ancienne de toutes les organisations economiques internationales. Pourtant elle est en meme temps l'institution internationale la plus meconnue, du moins la plus mal-connue du grand public. En fait son sigle compose de trois lettres (b.r.i.) est de nos jours tres trompeur et prete souvent a confusion; dans la mesure ou elle s'occupe plus maintenant de cooperation monetaire internationale que de reglements internationaux. Creee au cours d'une periode economique et politique tres agitee (quelques annees apres la premiere guerre mondiale), elle aura eu une enfance tres difficile: arret des reparations allemandes un an apres sa creation; abandon de l'etalon de change-or et pour finir subir encore une deuxieme guerre mondiale plus meurtriere que la premiere. Situee en suisse au coeur de l'europe; elle commenca au lendemain de la seconde guerre mondiale, a s'adapter a l'environnement economique et politique dans lequel elle baignait. Elle a rendu a ce titre d'eminents services a l'europe et qui plus est a un moment ou celle-ci en avait plus besoin. Cependant, le monde evolue; et les choses changent, jamais l'interdependance economique et financiere des etats n'a ete plus grande qu'aujourd'hui. D'importants problemes financiers et monetaires se posent de nos jours a tous les pays du monde et les unissent meme le plus souvent. Ainsi, avec les representations actuelles des banques centrales extra-europeennes (canada, japon, afrique du sud, u.s.a., australie) plus ses nouvelles actions dans le domaine financier international, l'institution baloise est en passe d'acquerir une notoriete mondiale; en tout cas elle est tout simplement aujourd'hui une veritable institution financiere internationale au service du monde tout entier.
Résumé / Abstract : The international bank for settlements has just published its fifty sixth annual report; that is to say, it is oldest existing economic international organizations. However it is at the same time, the most unrecognized international institution, at least the most unknown to the general public. In fact, its abbreviation (b.r.i.) international bank for settlements is nowadays very misleading and more often leads people astray, in as much as it deals now with more monotary cooperation than international settlements. Created during a period which was economicatly and politically very agitated (a few years after the ninete en fourteen eighteen war) it will have had a very difficult infancy: the stoppage of german repairings a year after its creation; the giving up of gold exchange standard and to with another world war, more bbody than the first. Based in the switzerland in the heart of europe; it began soon after the second world war two to adapt it self to the economical and political environment in which it was swimming. As such, it helped europe considerably and what is more in a moment when it was really in need. Nevertheless, the world evolues and things are changing the economic and financial interdependance with the united stated of america has never been more considerable than today. All the countries in the world are facing nowadays financial and monetary troubles and this more often put them together. So, with the current representations, the extra european central banks (canada, japan, south africa, united states, australia). Plus itw new phares in the international financial field, the balise institution is becoming in world wide notoriety. In any case it is simply today a real financial institution in the service of the whole world.
